Barbs is the Founder, Director, and Senior Physiotherapist at The Park, bringing over two decades of diverse clinical experience to her leadership role. With qualifications in both Physiotherapy (BSc Hons) and Human Movement Studies (BA Hons), her professional journey spans musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation, and care across the paediatric to geriatric spectrum. Since qualifying in 2000, Barbs has consistently sought to bridge clinical gaps and challenge the limits of conventional models of care.
In 2018, while working in a private hospital’s rehabilitation department, Barbs observed a stark lack of continuity between inpatient recovery and community reintegration—particularly for patients discharged with progressive neurological conditions. In response, she established a private clinic focused on post-discharge support, which evolved into The Park: a purpose-driven, multidisciplinary hub. One of her major innovations during this time was the development of a tailored, multidisciplinary program for people living with Parkinson’s Disease, integrating the clinical, physical, and social needs of patients.
Over time, Barbs recognised that effective Parkinson’s care extends beyond the individual, profoundly impacting families, partners, and broader support networks. Her work began to centre on a more holistic, family-inclusive model of care. In 2023, her vision gained national recognition when she was named an AMP Foundation Tomorrow Maker—an achievement that catalysed The Park’s transition into a social enterprise. With backing from Impact Boom and the AMP Foundation, Barbs and co-founder Rory solidified their commitment to creating a scalable, sustainable model of care that balances commercial viability with deep community impact.
